Join the HDC! Ride to the Beach for a Bar-B-Q
The High Desert Cyclists and Friends are riding to San Buenaventura Beach on July 21st, 2012. There will be SAG support to help riders. Bring supplies to fix a flat, and food/money for the ride. Each rider is responsible for their own arrangements to return themselves and their bikes back to the Antelope Valley. Work with your fellow riders, club members or family to get a ride, preposition a car or get picked-up. Expect the ride to break into groups of similarly paced riders. Riders will not be left alone. There are three possible rides, based on your preference.
Getting ready to ride to the beach
Three Possible Rides
- Start at Marie Kerr Park in Palmdale (30th Street West and Rancho Vista). Ride leaves at 6:30 AM – about 80 miles. This group will ride to the Wal-Mart in Santa Clarita to meet up with the second group, then on to Ventura. There will be someone to deliver your clothes bag or chair to the beach.
- Ride 45 miles from the Wal-Mart parking lot in Santa Clarita (located at Copperhill and Newhall Ranch Road). Ride will leave at 8:00 AM. Will not wait for the Palmdale riders. There will be someone to deliver items/chair to the beach.
- Third choice is ride from San Buenaventura State Park Beach to Ojai and return on the bike path. This ride is approximately 35 miles and leaves the parking lot at 8:30 AM. This scenic ride should return to SanBuenaventura about 11:00 AM. No SAG for this ride.
- Another alternative ride is an easy, flat ride along the beach bike paths.
